The work of Plant Quarantine activities of Mundra port previously comes under Plant Quarantine Station, Kandla (Gandhidham). The Station Code {‘C’(PPQS)1(40)} for Plant Quarantine Station, Mundra allotted and established Plant Quarantine Station, Mundra w.e.f. 8/7/2013.


The town of mundra is located about 50 km from Bhuj, which is one of the major towns in the district of Kutch in Gujarat. The other important towns in these districts are Anjar, Gandhidham and Mandvi. In view of the earthquake of January 2001, which had ravaged this district, many tax incentives were granted for setting up new industries in this district and this has led to the rapid industrialization of this region.


Mundra is a census town in kutch district in the Indian state of Gujarat. Mundra port is the largest private port in India. Mundra lies on the north shores of the Gulf of kutch about 50 KM south of Anjar and 44 KM East of the port of Mandvi.


The Port of Mundra is not only a private port, but it is also a special economic zone (SEZ). Incorporated in 1998 as a Gujarat Adani Port Limited (GAPL), the company began operating in 2001.The Mundra Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was incorporated in 2003 and was merged with GAPL in 2006. The Combined Company was renamed “Mundra port and Special Economic Zone Limited.” It is India’s first multi- product port-based Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
