How to know Phytosanitary Requirements for Import of Plant & Plant products?

Import of any plant and plant products in India is regulated by Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003. To see in details Click Here


Regulated commodities are listed in four Schedules as mentioned below:


Schedule IV- List of plants/planting materials and countries from where import is prohibited.

Schedule V- List of plants and plant materials restricted import permissible only with the recommendation of authorized institutions with additional declarations and special conditions.

Schedule VI- List of plants/plant materials permitted to be imported with additional declarations and special conditions. Consignments should accompany Phytosanitary Certificate from country of origin and country of re-export (wherever applicable)

Schedule VII- List of plants/ plant products where imports are permissible on the basis of phytosanitary certificate issued by country of origin and country of re-export (wherever applicable) and fumigated (wherever applicable)

How to import commodities not listed in PQ Order,2003?

The importer or NPPO of exporting country shall apply for PRA for import of agricultural commodities into India in form PQ 23, including the technical information in form PQ 24 for conducting PRA to PPA or Joint Secretary (PP). How to apply for accreditation by NPPO India for Forced Hot Air Treatment facilities (FHAT), Methyl Bromide (MBr) and Aluminum Phosphide (ALP) Treatment providers ?

The agency has to submit application to concerned RPQS in the format given in NSPM 9, 12 & 22 by making payment as per related NSPM in Bharatkosh and prior to application they should have qualified and trained operators as per NSPM. How to apply for registration by NPPO India for Rice, Chilli and Peanut packhouses?

The facility has to submit application to concerned RPQS in the format given in related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by making payment as per related SOP in Bharatkosh. SOPs are available in https://pqms.cgg.gov.in/pqms-angular/homeGuidelines/Standards

How many days before revalidation of facilities are required?

The accredited facilities shall apply for revalidation; the facility shall submit the application to the respective National/ Regional Plant Quarantine Station. The accredited facilities shall apply for renewal/ revalidation at least 45 days prior to expiry of registration.
