Due to the globalization and liberalization in international trade of plant and plant material in the wake of Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement under WTO the movement of pest from one country to another is always possible. This office covers area of jurisdiction having broad human strength spectrum under whole region of suarashtra-kutchh. There are 13 notified ports in Gujarat region among which almost on 10 seaports officers of this office according to their jurisdiction performing duties of phytosanitary inspection that is Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Kandla, Mundra, Mandvi, Navlakhi, Okha, Porbandar, Veraval, Pipavav.
A many officers incorporated with this office, a phytosanitary inspectors perform their duties on various seaports and container freight stations as well as inland container depos where the majority stack of agricultural commodities are handled for export.
This office performs the duty to issue phytosanitary certificates for various agricultural commodities which are to be exported from India, such as consignments of Rice, Groundnut kernels, Groundnut oil, Cotton, Sesame, Soybean meal, Rapeseed meal, Castor meal, Castor oil, Dehydrated onion and garlic, Cumin, Fennel, Fenugreek, Cassia Tora, Senna leaves etc.
