The Locust Circle Office (LCO), Barmer was established in the year 1939. This Office is about 379 Km. away from the Indo-Pak border and 53 kms away from Jodhpur. The objective for monitoring and controlling the desert locust in the Scheduled Desert Area (SDA) of the State of Rajasthan. Barmer district of Rajasthan is having long sparsely populated Indo-Pak border, which provides gateway for infiltration of locust from west. This station works under the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage, Department of Agriculture, Co-operation & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
