The Plant Quarantine cell was started working under the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Goa in the year, 2006 in order to facilitate the local Exporters/Importers of Goa and to prevent the introduction of exotic pests/diseases/weeds through import clearance at the point at Goa and the export of agricultural commodities to meet the requirement of importing countries as per IPPC 1951 and through import/export screening of agricultural commodities at the point of entry of Goa port as per the Plant Quarantine Order, 2003(Regulation of Import into India, Order,2003) framed under Destructive Insect Pest Act, 1914 in the interest of our country.
In order to facilitate the exports of fresh fruits and vegetables from Goa International Airport new Plant Quarantine Station has been established w.e.f. 12/10/2015 in order to fulfill the long standing demand of the Exporters from Goa and neighboring districts of Maharashtra and Karnataka State. Presently the functioning of the station is going on from the space provided at Airport Authority India Goa.
It has Two airport notified Airport entry points Dabolim International airport(South Goa) and MOPA International Airport at North Goa. one International Container Depot at Balli (South Goa) and One sea port Mormugao.
